Here’s an amazing Lennie Tristano contrafact from the album “Lee Konitz with Warne Marsh”, based roughly on “Almost like being in love”. It’s one of those lovely tunes that starts on the subdominant — always good in my book — and is one of the nicest collections of mezzo forte quavers ever put together. Enjoy!

distillation of some left hand technique discussion that came up today. for me, hand shapes helped to solidify fingerboard patterns, but subsequently unlearning the idea of a rigid correspondence between fretboard patterns and actual fingering patterns/hand shapes opened up flexibility that can be useful in walking, improvising, and sight reading. what ya reckon?
